Photographers may take pictures prior to the ceremony, during the processional and recessional, and after the ceremony. However, the use of flash is only permitted during the recessional to preserve the sacredness of the occasion.
Photographers are also asked to restrict their movement during the ceremony. Cameras may be set up in the choir loft. Movement toward the altar is restricted. Under no circumstances are photographers or videographers permitted to go beyond these barriers during the ceremony.
Photographers and Videographers who have not worked in a Basilica wedding must meet with the Wedding Director on the day of the wedding or prior to go over these guidelines.
