The Care for Creation team at the Basilica of St. Lawrence is dedicated to fulfilling our sacred responsibility as Catholics to protect and restore God’s creation, as described in Holy Scripture, the lives of the saints, contemporary church teaching, and current scientific consensus, through education, advocacy, and volunteering.
Team members work to raise parish consciousness of environmental concerns and their close connections with social justice. Activities include organizing educational speakers and presentations, studying Catholic works like Pope Francis' creation care encyclical "Laudato Si," and dishwashing at parish events to cut plastic waste.
The group meets every fourth Sunday from 10:15-11:45 a.m. in Laurentine Hall. For more information, please contact team lead Daniel Walton at [email protected].
