St. Lawrence is considered an outstanding participant church, providing over 400 volunteer hours annually as well as $5,000 in financial support.
Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent, energy-efficient 2, 3, and 4-bedroom houses that are sold to partner families at no profit, through a no interest loan. Mortgage payments range from $450-$550 a month. Mortgage payments are recycled back into our building program.
Because of St. Lawrence’s special love for the poor, Habitat for Humanity offers our parish a unique opportunity to serve Christ and honor our patron.
Each year since 2002, St. Lawrence parishioners have participated in the building of the Interfaith House. Teaming with other Asheville churches, volunteers work on the construction site in various capacities from August through October. After the key passing ceremony, the partner family typically moves in before Christmas.
